English Branch Prep Plant - Southwest Virginia Mining Company

Project Overview
The English Branch Prep Plant site is undergoing significant development as part of Southwest Virginia Mining Company’s ongoing improvements. Extensive work has been completed, including enhancements to the side drains and the blasting of a hillside to create rock material for further site stabilization and development.
Key project Details
Stormwater Management: The side drains are designed to control runoff from the refuse fill during rain events. These drainage systems are reinforced with rock to manage water flow and prevent erosion.
Site Preparation: Blasting operations have been carried out to generate rock material for lining the drainage ditches and other structural needs.
Future Operations: Once the new coal preparation plant is erected and operational, rock separated from the coal will be transported to the refuse fill site and placed in controlled lifts—first by truck and eventually by beltline.
